Assemblyman Jeff Gorell Honors Tamara Howard as Woman of the Year
Assemblyman Jeff Gorell (R-Camarillo) today honored Tamara Howard as the 2014 Woman of the Year for the 44th Assembly District during a ceremony in Sacramento at the state capitol. A multi-faceted community volunteer, Ms. Howard is known locally for her work with veterans and senior groups.
“I’m excited to be able to help recognize Tamara Howard for her tireless spirit and contributions to our community,” stated Assemblyman Gorell. “The energy she brings to her volunteerism helps encourage others to give of themselves as well.”
“I am deeply honored to receive the ‘Woman of the Year’ designation from Assemblyman Jeff Gorell,” said Tamara Howard. “It’s a privilege to be in our State’s Capitol and to be among outstanding and committed women that were chosen to represent their communities.”
Held annually, the Woman of the Year ceremony celebrates California’s extraordinary women. Started in 1987 to help commemorate Women’s History Month, the event has become an annual Capitol tradition to salute community service. Honorees are presented with a framed certificate from the State Assembly recognizing their outstanding contributions during a special ceremony in the Assembly chambers.
Tamara Lynn Howard was born in Hollywood, CA and attended University High School in West Los Angeles. She earned a degree in Psychology from California State University, Northridge, then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Psychology from Pepperdine.
