Delta Sigma Theta Hosts 4th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast
The Ventura County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will host its annual ecumenical community Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, September 21 at 9 a.m. at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Oxnard.
The event, which is themed “Fortifying the Village Walls to Unify the Nation,” will feature keynote speaker Linda G. Hodge, pastor of Living Praise Christian Center, and some of Ventura County’s most anointed spiritual leaders. These “prayer warriors” will come together to pray for the leadership of our country, military, community and family.
Tickets are $30 and include breakfast. Vendors will be available on-site before the breakfast begins and afterwards.
Guests also will be treated to praise and worship through song, dance and spoken word by some of the most anointed talent throughout the county. Gospel artists Tommi Akinbode and Tiffany Bradley are scheduled to perform. Well known artist Emerald Nixon will bless attendees in praise through spoken word. In addition, the Simi Valley Second Missionary Baptist Church Praise Dancers will demonstrate worship in dance.
Leading ladies of churches from throughout Ventura County will lead the prayers including Rev. Rebecca Nivens of Evangelistic Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Betty Lomax of St. Paul Baptist Church, Minister Theresa Kirk of Living Praise Christian Center, Lorraine Hershey of Bethel A.M.E. Church, as well as a host of others.
“Great things happen when people who love God come together in the spirit of unity and love for each other,” said Shanté Morgan-Durisseau, president of VCAC. “Our goal is to inspire community servants to continue their mission, despite the financial and moral challenges faced in today’s world.”
