EMERGE Summit to Kick Off the “Year of the Young Professional”

Metro EDGE, the young professional program of the Metro Chamber, announced tickets are now available to the first-ever EMERGE Summit on March 21, 2014. Inviting young professionals to share ideas, learn professional skills, and inspire civic participation, the EMERGE Summit will help build connections needed to develop careers and build a sustainable young professionals community in the Sacramento region.

“There is an increasing focus to identify what our region needs to attract and retain our future workforce,” said Emilie Cameron, chair of Metro EDGE. “The EMERGE Summit is the first of many engaging and collaborative efforts focused on mobilizing emerging leaders to encourage innovation and a build a stronger, more sustainable economy.”

National in scope and local in focus, the EMERGE Summit is created by and for young professionals to envision a greater Sacramento region. The vision to revitalize the region’s urban core, build a downtown entertainment and sports complex, establish an iconic Farm to Fork movement, and solidify a regional identity are proof that active and engaged citizens are a powerful force, impacting Sacramento and beyond.

“Metro EDGE is an important program of the Metro Chamber and helps to both prepare the younger demographic for business and civic leadership and provide a sustainable path for engagement that will benefit our region for years to come,” said James Beckwith, president and CEO of Five Star Bank and Board Chair of Sacramento Metro Chamber.  “The EMERGE Summit is one step in that direction,” he added.

Anchored by keynote speaker Peter Kageyama, entrepreneur and author of “For the Love of Cities,” EMERGE speakers will focus on the value of emotional engagement with the region, how that connection is created and nurtured and how it can be turned into a development resource.  Joining Kageyama are three local speakers: Ramen Cooker inventor and businessman Chris Johnson, Studio at EA General Manager Mark Otero, and Sacramento Republic FC executive and Metro EDGE Young Professional of the Year Erika Bjork.

The EMERGE Summit will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a reception form 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.For more information or tickets, please visit
