“We want to reach out to those writers who can’t afford the conference but are talented and hungry for professional education, especially young writers just thinking of entering the field as a career,” says Kate Sexton Kaiser, Executive Director of PIPW. “Last year we gave away five scholarships and this year we are able to give away four. The VC Star, one of our media sponsors, is giving two of the scholarships courtesy of the paper.”

In its fifth year, the conference draws attendees from throughout California with writers flying in from Idaho and Texas last year. The conference features published authors, editors, and other publishing professionals discussing the top issues facing new writers.
