805’s Got Talent Industry Showcase Hosts Third Annual Competition

On Sunday, October 13, 2013, a talented mix of singers and dancers competed to win at 805’s Got Talent Industry Showcase at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, located at 800 Hobson Way. The event, now in its third year, brought in attendees from all over Southern California.

The festivities kicked off at 2 p.m. with a VIP red carpet event. The talent show, hosted by Ventura County Bureau Chief Tracy Lehr, began promptly at 3 p.m. Guest judges included: Jodi Farrell, Jodi Farrell’s Music Studio; Matt Harris, Executive Director of A&R at Hollywood Records/Disney Music Group; Michelle Ostrove, vocal and music instructor; Randall “Sticks” Richman, record producer; and Steven Adams, television producer.

This judges were wooed by the outstanding performances and were tasked to choose the top three from 21 talented acts that included: Audrey Diaz, The Vision, Dance Fusion Jr, Heaven Campbell, Isaiah Venegas, Miriam Larson, District 13, Jedd Lebrilla, Kaili Higa, Las Reynas De La Rumba, Zackary Tuazon, Stay Gifted Dance Crew, Zoe Lebrilla, Ashlynn Vaglica, The Divas, Morgan Harvill, David Fox, Cheryl & Eva Kewley, Yamira Martinez, Andres Flores & Julien Martinez, and Jasmine Monzon, Julien Martinez, Kim Pernia & Jermarie Dizan.

Cash awards of $300, $150, and $75 were given to the following contestants: First place, Kaili Higa (vocalist); second place, District 13 (dancers); and third place, Cheryl and Eva Kewley (vocalists).

“There are a lot of events that come to our community that are food related and not music related. 805’s Got Talent centers around education, fashion, health and entertainment. Those are the criteria. We want to entertain our youth and bring awareness to our county,” said event organizer, Chuck Dennis.
