Assemblyman Logue Introduces AB 1507 to Give Californians Their Health Plans Back

North State Assemblyman and  senior member of the Assembly Committee on Health, Dan Logue, introduced AB 1507 which will allow Californians who had their health plans cancelled as a result of Obamacare, to reclaim those plans through December of this year.

In November, the Covered California board voted unanimously that the plans of Californians that did not measure up to federal health care guidelines had to be given up. Assembly Republicans responded almost immediately to this decision, beginning to draft this legislation and urging the Governor and legislative leaders to call a special session to address this flaw with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

“Time and time again people were promised that if they liked their plan, and if they liked their doctor, they would be able to keep it,” said Logue. “I am proud to carry this legislation to hold up the promise that others could not keep.  If Californians purchased their health insurance while it was legal then it should not be taken away from them. The implementation of Obamacare has resulted in multiple problems for the people it was supposedly meant to help and I hope that this bill will be able correct just one of those problems.”

Eleven legislators have signed on to co-author this legislation alongside Assemblyman Logue which include: Assembly Republican Leader, Connie Conway, 26th District, Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian, 35th District, Assemblyman Travis Allen, 77th District, Assemblyman Donald Wagner, 68th District, Assemblymember Beth Gaines, 6th District, Assemblyman Brian Jones, 71st District, Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, 33rd District, Assemblyman Brian Nestande, 42nd District, Assemblymember Diane Harkey, 73rd District, Assemblymember Shannon Grove, 34th District, and Assemblymember Melissa Melendez, 67th District.

Assemblyman Logue represents the 3rd Assembly District in the California Legislature, which includes the communities of Tehama, Glenn, Butte, Colusa, Sutter, and Yuba.
