U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) apprehended a 21-year-old male United States citizen suspected of rape and unlawful sexual contact with a minor as he attempted to board a plane to Narita, Japan on April 15.

CBP officers confirmed that Tyler Ross Fitzgerald was an exact match of an active arrest warrant issued about a month before on March 14, by Scioto County Sheriff’s Office in Portsmouth, Ohio.
“This interception illustrates yet again the great work CBP officers do behind-the-scenes every day, to keep bad people from entering the United States, as well as apprehend fugitives trying the flee the country and evade justice,” said Todd C. Owen, CBP Director of Field Operations in Los Angeles.

CBP officers intercepted Fitzgerald prior to boarding the flight, took him into custody and turned him over to Los Angeles World Airports Police. The subject was arrested and extradition was initiated.
