Erickson Selected as VCCF Board Chair-Elect
Nonprofit leader and businessman Gary Erickson has been tapped as chair-elect of the Ventura County Community Foundation board of directors. He will serve as board chair starting Oct. 1, 2013.
“I’ve been part of the board of directors since 2007 and am humbled to be chosen by the Selection Committee,” Erickson said. “With the successful opening of the VCCF Nonprofit Center, I see nothing but good things for the future of the community foundation.”
The Oxnard resident has been with the community foundation since its inception 25 years ago as a donor, partner and volunteer, sitting on the Program and Grants, Fund Development and VCCF Center for Nonprofit Leadership Advisory committees. He helped found the Technical Advisory Committee, established to encourage philanthropy among professional financial advisers in Ventura County. Erickson serves as the chair of the Capital Campaign Committee, a fundraising effort to sustain programming for the new VCCF Nonprofit Center.
In 1988 he founded The Erickson Group, a consulting organization for nonprofits in strategic planning, program and board development, marketing and all aspects of fundraising. He serves as a project director on all of his contracts, giving his personal knowledge from over 30 years of experience to each nonprofit client the Erickson Group serves.
“Gary has over three decades of experience working with community-based nonprofit organizations to draw from, and he has been an extremely valuable asset to VCCF,” said Pierre Tada, current board chair who will step down at the end of September after serving in that role for five years. “I believe in his future position as board chair, he will help further the organization’s desire to continue to build philanthropic capital for Ventura County while fostering a culture of collaboration to better serve donors and community stakeholders. Gary is the right leadership at the right time as we enter a new era of nonprofit work with the opening of the VCCF Nonprofit Center.”
