How to Overcome Your Fears and Mental Blocks- Fast! – Words to Live by
By Pastor Lonnie G. McCowan
I want to ask you something personal. Name something you desire.
Is it to:
- Lose weight?
- Have more money?
- Improve your relationship?
- Find a better job?
- Start a business?
- Live healthier?
- Find a mate?
Now let me ask you a blunt question.
Why don’t you have it yet?
The answer to this question is very important, so please take a moment to think about it.
Let’s face it; most of us from time to time feel that life is just one big struggle with a series of never ending problems.
When we began, I asked you to, “Name something you want”> then I asked you another question, “Why don’t you have it yet?”
No matter what your answer, let me tell you something that you need to know.
The reason you don’t have what you want is not because of anything or anyone outside of you. The answer is inside of you- a place where people rarely look for the answer.
In short, if you don’t have what you want (you name it) then your subconscious holds some contradictory intentions for you. To put it simply, you consciously want something and your subconscious doesn’t.
For example you may say, “I want to lose weight”, but your dominant subconscious belief is, “I really like to eat”.
Notice anything different about these two statements?
They are going in different directions. So after years of frustrating and contradictory messages you still don’t have what you want.
What is really happening is that your conscious and subconscious are in conflict. You consciously say, “I want to be prosperous” and then your subconscious says, “It is too difficult to be prosperous” As a result, there is no agreement, between your conscious and subconscious. When this happens they cancel each other out and give up on helping you overcome problems or obstacles to create what you would like to have in your life.
What is critical to understand is that the competition, conflicting agendas, and disharmony between your conscious and subconscious is what is keeping you from having what you desire. Why? Because when your conscious and subconscious are not in sync they produce resistance. And it is this resistance or energy block that produces the negative result.
Let me explain what’s really happening. Your subconscious mind cooperates with your conscious mind when it understands and agrees with what you consciously want. In other words, when your conscious and subconscious are not in conflict.
Before you can solve your problems and have what you desire you must resolve these conflicts. To eliminate the struggle in your life, you must first find the conflict and then resolve it before you can have what you want. All personal growth boils down to this: if we want to change our reality we must change our consistent thoughts.
This is a biblical principle (3 John 1:2KJV)
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. This scripture is saying that what happens on the outside is a direct result of what happens on the inside! said another way: if you keep thinking what you have been thinking, you will keep getting what you have been getting.
The best way to think right is to do these four things:
- 1) Decide what you want and then listen to your subconscious resistance or conflicting thoughts. Write them down.
- 2) Ask yourself, “Are these thoughts REAL or imaginary?”
- 3) Ask yourself, “Are these thoughts moving me toward what I want or away from what I want?”
- 4) Ask yourself, “What new consistent thoughts can I use from now on to replace them?” Make a list on paper.
Then USE them! Stop letting your mind run your life, and let your Spirit lead this way you can take control and your new consistent thoughts will become your reality.
