Jets Pick Quarterback Geno Smith in 2013 NFL Draft Second Round
Geno Smith has left the green room, finally.
After going undrafted in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Geno Smith was selected by the New York Jets with the seventh pick of the second round. Former Jets wide receiver Wayne Chrebet took the stage at Radio City Music Hall to announce the pick.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Jets were looking to trade up in the second round to draft Smith. They stood pat, either by choice or lack of willing trade partners, but the 6′ 3″ quarterback fell to them at No. 39 overall.
With a contingent of Jets fans on hand at Radio City, the noise that greeted this pick was perhaps the loudest of any selection thus far. The reaction on Twitter was no less cacophonous.
