NAACP Hosts Rockin’ New Years Eve Celebration & Dance

On Tuesday, December 31, the Ventura County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) kicked off its annual pre-New Year’s Eve celebration at Courtyard by Marriott, located at 600 E. Eplanade Drive.

The semi-formal ball featured music, played by D.Y. Entertainment, catering by the hotel, an open bar and much more. Admission ranged between $50 – $200 which covered food, party favors, champagne toasts, etc. A New Year’s Eve Couple Package was also offered. It included two tickets to the dance and one hotel night say at Courtyard by Marriott.

When asked about the turnout, John R. Hatcher, III, President of the Ventura County Chapter stated, “It was extremely satisfactory. It was excellent. We hold this annual fundraiser to give recognition to people in the community. The funds are used go to operating the branch, providing scholarships and attending conference events.” Mr. Hatcher concluded, “The dance was outstanding!”

The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of minority citizens of the United States; eliminating racial prejudice, racial hatred and racial discrimination.
