SUV Smashes Into Ventura Auto Repair Shop
No one was injured Wednesday night when an SUV smashed into a west Ventura business. It happened around 10:30 PM at a vehicle repair shop in the 100 block of west Main Street. The authorities say the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed on Ventura Avenue when the driver apparently lost control and the vehicle smashed into the building coming to rest in the showroom. The impact sprayed glass and metal throughout the structure and dislodged a major vertical support for the building causing the roof to sag. Ventura city firefighters responded and installed some emergency shoring to make sure the building would remain stable. Building and safety will inspect the structure today. Fire crews also helped clean up all the broken glass and metal debris. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle without help and was not injured. Ventura police are investigating the incident.
