When Being Savagely Beaten, Who Gets More Sympathy, Pets, or Humans?

Leslie Mack, 55
Oxnard, CA

“I feel that both pets and humans both get more sympathy because both pets and humans both serve a purpose in this society due to the fact that we need both pets and humans in our lives. I believe this because for those loved ones who have lost the most closest relative, for one reason or another, have become very attached and dependant on their pets, and vice-versa. So, therefore, although humans are humans, sympathy is always addressed so passionately because of the way that God planned this world from the start, Adam & Eve and the two of each.”

“I feel that pets are dominating the society these days and people seem to be very much more sympathetic to pets more than humans. I’ve experienced many situations concerning people defending pets even when the pet had injured a human due to the vicious nature of the animal and the fact that so many citizens own pets, I don’t agree with it; however, the fact of my statement still remains to be for the most part true. Society has overlooked so many aspects of life and the regard for humans, as opposed to pets have need for evaluation throughout this society.”

“I feel that animals receive more sympathy. They are seen as helpless, and when they are mistreated it tends to hit a soft spot for most. Also, as awful as it is, when a human is beaten, the tragedy is taken by media and abused as the next scandal.”

“Pets appear to be better taken care of than human beings. Sympathy is an understatement when it comes to looking out for our neighbor. What a disappointment.”

“I think both should get the same sympathy because it doesn’t matter if you are human or animal, it’s still the same beating.”

“I truly believe if you commit violent against another human being then that person should be punished in that same manner. Pets are for the most part defenseless against someone trying to hurt them and will receive the sympathy, but where I grew up, I witnessed the local Sheriff’s department of Los Angeles County beat and hurt young Black men on the daily basis with their big heavy black mag flashlight, and there was no sympathy. So if I had to vote on this matter I would vote that pets get the most sympathy.”
