“They Came at Night” to Debut in Santa Barbara

Lindsay Branham, a 2001 alumni of Laguna Blanca School in Santa Barbara, premieres her groundbreaking short film “They Came at Night,” at the 2014 Santa Barbara International Film Festival at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, and Sunday, Feb. 9, at the Metro 4 theatre, 618 State St. in Santa Barbara.

The 20-minute film, made in partnership with Invisible Children, tells the story of an abducted child solider who risks his life to escape from Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) deep in central Africa after years of forced conscription.

The film is part of a Mobile Cinema campaign used to dissolve conflict in communities affected by the LRA.

They Came at Night aims to incite forgiveness in communities affected by decades of war in Africa while capturing the imagination of a western audience, and to deliver a powerful message: even the most basic human choices can be part of ending a war.
