It’s Salsa Time! The 21st Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival Takes Place this Weekend!

The 21st Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival Takes Place this Weekend!The Oxnard Downtowners invites the community to attend the 21st Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival in downtown Oxnard, July 26 and 27 at Plaza Park, 5th and ‘B’ Streets. The annual festival runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday and celebrates everything salsa…the music, the food, and the dance! Admission and parking are free!  No pets or coolers are permitted on the site.

The celebration starts with a Friday Night Kick-off Concert (paid concert) on July 25, introducing the Oxnard Salsa Orchestra led by Raul Rico Jr., playing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets for the Friday night concert are $10 per person and can be purchased on-site. Groups of six can pre-order reserved tables for $85 on the festival website.

On tap during the weekend is spicy food, fiery entertainment, iced cold beverages, color vendor marketplace, expanded Kids Korner attractions (including the popular ‘Tortilla Art’), Oxnard Salsa Tasting Tent, international food court, ‘Great Oxnard Salsa Challenge Recipe Contest’ and ‘Dancing with our Community Stars Dance Contest & Charity Fundraiser’.

The musical entertainment runs continuously throughout Salsa Festival weekend. Four new bands play at this year’s Festival. The main stage band line up is as follows:

OPA OPA from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sabor Latino Orchestra from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Yari Moré Latin Band from 4:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Sunday, July 27, 2014
Conjunto Afro Son from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Orquesta Tabaco y Ron from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Janeen Puente Orchestra from 4:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

The 21st Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival is presented by the Oxnard Downtowners, and sponsored by Gold Coast Broadcasting, Bud Light, Mission Foods, Shock Top, Ventura County Star, and many other generous community partners.
