Lighthouse for Women & Children to Host Second Annual “Rags to Riches” Fashion Show
Fairy tales are full of “rags to riches” stories… but there are real-life rags to riches stories unfolding every day at the Lighthouse for Women & Children in Oxnard (part of the Ventura County Rescue Mission).
The Lighthouse serves its clients on many levels. Services include feeding the homeless, providing shelter and temporary housing to women and families, and a Life Recovery residential program with Transitional Living and Internship programs. Through these programs, women are supported in rebuilding their broken lives, giving themselves and their children new hope for a better future.
In celebration of these life victories and to raise community awareness and additional funds, the Lighthouse is hosting its second annual Rags to Riches Fashion Show, Auction, & Luncheon onSaturday, October 12, 2013 from 11:30am – 1:30pm at Poinsettia Pavilion, 3451 Foothill Road, Ventura CA.
Two hundred guests will be treated to a fashion show of new and “next to new” designer clothing from the Rescue Mission Alliance “Super Thrift” stores. Lighthouse residents, their children, and volunteers will model the outfits, which will be for sale as part of a live auction. Many silent auction and raffle items will be on sale. Donations will also be accepted at the event.
Tickets are $30 and are available online at www.ragstorichesevent.org. The event is expected to sell out, so buy your tickets early. Event sponsorships are also available by contacting Director Cassie Sorenson at 805-436-4560 or CSorenson@erescuemission.org.
