Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., PSI XI Chapter, Awarding Scholarships

The Psi Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., is again awarding scholarships to graduating African-American high school students. Candidates should show aspiration to continue with their higher education.

Our 2011 scholarship awards are based on the following criteria:

  1. At least a 2.5 G.P.A. on a scale of 4.0
  2. A thematic essay
  3. A biographical essay
  4. Financial need
  5. Community involvement

This year’s essay themes are: “Do you think American media has too much influence on it’s citizens, explain your answer?”, or, “If you were President of the United States what would you do to improve the lives of minorities in this country?” The essay should be a minimum of 500 typewritten words, double-spaced. A Biographical Essay also is required.

Along with the two essays, each student should submit the application package via email (preferred route) to or via mail and have a certified transcript mailed to 7735 Aura Ave. Reseda Ca 91335. The postmark deadline for all completed application packages is May 21, 2014.

Scholarships will be announced at your High School’s Awards Ceremony. Funds will be awarded upon receipt of proof of college enrollment, but not sooner than September 1, 2014.
