Summer Concerts will Rock The Collection
The concerts are free and open to the public, though there are a limited number of center stage tables available. “Rock 4 a Cause” reserves a table for four for $44, with 50 percent of the proceeds to benefit Ventura County high school music programs, through the Ventura County Arts Council.
“It’s a very important part of our overall mission to promote the arts in schools,” said Margaret Travers, Executive Director of the Ventura County Arts Council. “We promote all the arts. In this case, it’s music, but we also are involved in literature, theatre, visual arts and dance.”
Leticia Wilson, Marketing Director for The Collection, said Rock 4 a Cause made sense because budget cuts statewide have hit the arts programs at high schools especially hard.
“We’re excited to create a program that can give back to the community and particularly the music programs,” Wilson said.
The concerts, which go from 6-8 p.m., will be held on Saturdays beginning June 22 with “King of Pop, the Band — Michael Jackson Tribute.” Shows that will follow include:
June 29 — Dirty Rice (reggae)
July 6 — Paperback Writer — The Beatles Experience
July 13 — Captain Cardiac and the Coronaries (old time rock ‘n roll)
July 27 — The Mini Drive Band (retro rock tribute)
Aug. 3 — Jeff Hershey and the Heartbeats (soul music)
Aug. 10 — Spencer the Gardener (eclectic pop & rock with Latin flavor)
