The Collection Makes $5,000 Donation to VC Arts Council
The Collection at RiverPark presented a check for $5,000 to the Ventura County Arts Council recently, the result of funds raised through the “Rock The Collection” summer concert series.
Throughout the 10-show concert series, The Collection offered a “VIP Seating Program” which provided tables for those who wanted to enjoy a show and contribute to the arts.
Sponsors who contributed $1,000 each included Walker & Paul Real Estate and Management, Santa to the Sea, The Vines at RiverPark, Della’s Care Facility, Oxnard Peace Officers Association, PODS, and Center for Family Health. Media sponsors included the Ventura County Reporter and Ventura County Star.
The check was presented to Margaret Travers, Executive Director of the Ventura County Arts Council.
“It’s a very important part of our overall mission to promote the arts in schools,” Travers said. “We promote all the arts. In this case, it’s music, but we also are involved in literature, theatre, visual arts and dance.”
The concert series, which attracted thousands of music lovers over the summer, featured bands that satisfied all tastes in music, from local bands like Dirty Rice and Captain Cardiac and Coronaries, to tribute bands like Paperback Writer — The Beatles Experience, and to L.A.vation, a U2 tribute band.
“We’re happy to give back to the community, and make a commitment to the arts,” said Leticia Wilson, Director of Marketing for The Collection, adding that raising funds for the Arts Council was a natural considering how state budget cuts have hit arts programs especially hard.
The Ventura County Arts Council’s goal is to support and strengthen the arts throughout Ventura County by championing artistic excellence, accessibility, communication, awareness, mutual support of the arts within the broader community, to serve Ventura County artists, arts organizations and arts education by forming strong partnerships with arts supporters, businesses, foundations, and community leaders.
Musicians On A Mission California (MOAMCA) is the strategic partner of the Ventura County Arts Council, lending their expertise in designing and implementing a fair process to distribute the funds to the county’s high school music programs.
