cfiles71911 300x201 The Oxnard Public Library to Host Talk on “Carmen”The Oxnard Public Library is proud to host a Community Educator from LA Opera who will give an introductory talk about the opera “Carmen.”

French composer Georges Bizet wrote “Carmen” in the opéra-comique genre with musical numbers separated by dialogue.  Set in Spain, it tells the tale of a naïve soldier who is seduced by an irresistible gypsy, which ends in his downfall.  Bizet has been praised for the way he musically portrayed the emotions and suffering of his characters.  The speaker will play some of its thrilling music.

This presentation is free and will take place on Saturday, August 24, at 3:00 p.m., at the main branch at the Main Library of the Oxnard Public Library in meeting room B.  For further information, please call 385-7532.
