On July 23, 2013, the Center for Black Studies Department and the Feminist Studies Department collaborated to support students and community members who are still stunned by the “innocent” verdict given to George Zimmerman. He was set free after following and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, an African-American.

The meeting was a vigil and recommitment effort devoted to educating the public about the plight of young Black boys being murdered without legal justice being meted out.
