Ventura County Public Works Agency Announces National Public Works Week
This year, National Public Works Week, an honorary week sponsored by the American Public Works Association, will take place the week of May 18-24 with the theme “Building for Today, Planning for Tomorrow.”
During this week, the Ventura County Public Works Agency (VCPWA) will host events and activities to celebrate the work of the five departments that make up the Agency, as well as recognize its workforce dedicated to improving the quality of life for present and future generations of County residents.
On Tuesday, May 20, at 10 a.m. in the Hall of Administration, the Board of Supervisors will adopt a resolution in honor of National Public Works Week. VCPWA will also announce this year’s “Employees of the Year” recipients.
From 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the public will be invited to partake in various festivities, as the Government Center parking lot will be filled with VCPWA Department display booths, including heavy equipment for demonstrations. VCPWA staff will also lead activities and hands-on stations that demonstrate the many services provided by the Agency, such as creating recyclable arts and crafts and more. Also, a career booth will be staffed to provide information on exciting career opportunities with the Agency, including internship and student-worker programs that may be available for high school and college students interested in gaining professional experience in the Public Works sector.
