Ventura Resident Pleds Guilty to Second-Degree Murder
District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Harry Joe Pahl (DOB 1/5/67), of Ventura, has pled guilty to second-degree murder for the death of his daughter Barbara Pahl. Barbara died on February 7, 2007, as a result of injuries Pahl inflicted upon her when she was two months old. The injuries resulted in severe brain trauma for which the child lived in various hospitals and board and care facilities for the remainder of her life. In 1998, Pahl pled guilty for causing her injuries and while serving his prison sentence, Barbara died as a result of those injuries. Pahl was then charged with murder and felony child abuse causing death.
Sentencing is set for February 5, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom 27. Pahl faces a maximum possible sentence of 15 years to life in prison.
