Sports WilliamsSisters 300x222 Williams Sisters Lose U.S. Open Womens Doubles Semifinals

Venus Williams, right, and Serena Williams, second from right, congratulate Lucie Hradecka, far left, and Andrea Hlavackova, of the Czech Republic, after losing the women's doubles semifinals of the 2013 U.S. Open tennis tournament on Friday, September 6, in New York.

Serena Williams will have to settle for playing in only one U.S. Open final this year.

Williams and sister Venus fell 6-4, 6-2 to the Czech team of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in the women’s doubles semifinals – a match played shortly after Serena Williams won in singles to set up a final against Victoria Azarenka.

Hlavackova, meanwhile, still has a chance of winning two titles at Flushing Meadows this year.
The Williams sisters have 13 major doubles titles, while Hlavackova and Hradecka are trying to win their second.
