Port Hueneme-- The story of the City of Port Hueneme’s public hearing about changing its name to Hueneme Beach continues with public comments from Tama Fig, who said she supports Councilman Steven Gama, but she pointed out that he was elected to the City of Port Hueneme council, not Hueneme Beach.

ORT Hueneme residents will determine whether the name will be changed to Hueneme Beach.
“Please stop referring to it as Hueneme Beach because it is not that yet,” Fig said. “There is already a perception that the city doesn’t exist north of Hueneme Road. You just further that. When you talk about the beach, make sure it’s the City of Port Hueneme until this is all done.”
She said history proved itself in the past, and council members have been ousted over wanting to do things with the beach.
