Election Controversy Claimed

Oxnard—During Public Comments at the Tuesday, October 6, City Council meeting, Lizanne Nanez, who is running for the District 2 City Council seat, said Mayor Pro Tem Gabe Teran is engaging in unethical conduct.

“THE residents should know,” she said. “I was born and raised in Oxnard, and Oxnard has been my home for over 65 years. I worked at Procter & Gamble for over 42 years, and I am retiring as a finance and accounting systems leader.”

She has four children, and two are Oxnard Police Officers.

“I decided to run for City Council because I feel we can improve the budget for Public Safety employees,” she said. “I don’t like the aesthetics of the City, and when I grew up, it was safe and inviting. I was concerned the City was no longer looking that way.”

She started questioning how the City spent its money.

“Overall, I just wanted to help, and it's my right as a resident to run for City Council,” she said. “It has come to my attention that Mr. Teran behaved in a manner during this election that is unbecoming of a candidate running for office.”
