Finance team applauded for clean audit report

Oxnard-- The Finance & Governance Committee’s discussion about the city’s 20-21 Annual Financial Report continues with critical audit matters.

THE committee learned of its clean financial report during its Tuesday, January 11, meeting.

Hong Nguyen from Eadie & Payne said they initially thought there might be some challenges, but there weren’t because of the hard work of Chief Financial Officer Betsy George and the entire staff.

“They worked really hard, especially with the transition that happened over the year,” Nguyen said. “We were able to issue our opinion timely. We were able to issue the financial report and statement very timely; despite all the significant challenges, we thought they overcame them very well.”

She noted there were no material audit adjustments needed.

“We’re required to issue another internal audit report, and that is expected to be issued in March,” she said. “We will also do an ongoing IT assessment that is required as well.”

Mayor John Zaragoza said the report is comprehensive, and there is a lot of information.

“I read most of it, and I want to thank the auditors, Eadie & Payne, and all of the employees,” he said.
