Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard—Surgery week is finally here after numerous delays, and although going under the knife is never something I look forward to, this procedure, transitioning to home Peritoneal Dialysis, ultimately makes my life easier.

FROM what I’ve been told, Hemo-Dialysis places a strain on my heart, and the change will keep me healthier until the day I get a transplant.

When I think about things that stress me out, thing number one is stopping the bus to spend 12 hours a week receiving Dialysis. I’m trying to grow the Tri County Sentry, which I’ve been trying to do for over six years, and that takes time, which has become a diminishing commodity.

There have been a couple of small wins over the past week; you can pick the paper up at two new great retailers: Jiffy Lube at Ventura Road and Fifth Street and, starting this week, The VFW Post in Port Hueneme. More work needs to be done, and I’ll budget that task into each week.

Once I get out of surgery, the first new challenge will be pain management. I’ve given up asking doctors direct questions, but The Paramedic and The Sarge have direct, applicable experience here, and…
