Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard—It’s been quite a year; that’s the understatement of all time, without a doubt.

MOST everyone knows my travails, a Country adventure where people had no clue how to operate a newspaper, a little legal scuffle to get out of my lease my attorney helped with, which ended with the whole family in a moving truck, with a damaged car carrier for eight horrifying days.

I encountered a lot during the trip: rain that followed us for 48 hours across America, no seizure medication for Buddy, which cost us a day to manage that problem, expensive hotels that seemed like refugee camps and may have advertised as being a great value only to be the most costly part of the trip.

Learning how to pull a car across the Country was another unfortunate challenge that cost us half a morning, and then just planning our destinations was a challenge even with Siri giving us directions.

Through it all, Daisy and Buddy were the true stars of our journey. They sat patiently, fussed when they had to pee, and at the end of the day, all they needed was a bowl of dinner and a nice spot on the bed.
