Things were going well. My colonoscopy went off without a hitch— the final stage to get a kidney from Travis, my hero. When I went home, I rested but got sick that night, which is pretty typical for me. Then Sunday happened.
I had a hard time walking—in fact, I couldn’t walk. I was laying in bed the whole day thinking, “Wow, I feel horrible.” I tried to get out to cover something special: the farmers market at Channel Islands. We got there, but I couldn’t walk, so Janis and I worked out a plan. I told her what questions to ask, and I just parked while she went and asked questions and took pictures.
That night, I thought, “All right, let me just get a good sleep and I’ll be OK.” Well, that didn’t happen. I got up and started to hemorrhage out my backside as a side-effect to my colonoscopy and ended up in the hospital. I’m still in the hospital, although they’re telling me not much longer. I’ve been pretty sick and I’ve had to have a couple of surgeries.
It’s pretty hard for someone like me to just lay in bed and do nothing after…
