Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard—It was a typical Sunday morning. I was in bed at 6:30 a.m., and the J-Train woke me up to tell me that she was going to work.

THERE were a couple of minor differences: I was hungry, my blood sugar was low, and I needed company.

Usually, I don’t require contact; I’m an island unto myself, but this morning I just wanted to talk.

I had one stop to make, I needed to drop off papers at the Strandwich in Channel Islands, and had a wonderful talk with Madison, who was running the shift. I had to keep moving, as I had plenty of papers to deliver. I told Madison it’s always great to see her, and she responded in kind.

When I was recovering from all my medical issues, moments with people like Madison got me up to rehabilitate myself.

I was still hungry, so I decided to stop by the Eagles and do a story, catch up with all my friends, and grab a bite to eat.

When I stop at the Eagles, I’m always greeted by smiles and welcomes. It’s like being home. I had a great omelet with cheese, sausage, toast, and orange juice.
