Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard—As I said last week, God is good, and Janis is off and running at her new restaurant job as a hostess.

SHE is thrilled because she gets to work with her friend, Claudia, and the duo plans to enjoy steak and shrimp fajitas following a shift. It’s a new restaurant, which means busy, busy, busy, learning new skills.

There are challenges. Janis isn’t sure about the seating chart, but she has the schematic and reviews them daily.

One thing she forgot about her previous restaurant experience is that, at the end of her shift, she’s dog-tired. Sleep is no longer a problem for Janis at the end of the day.

Meanwhile, Janis is shy, not really, but she can be very quiet around strangers, especially around people in their 20s and 30s. I tell her to adopt those she’s working with and be the really cool Grandma.

I am grateful she’s out. Having her home with me isn’t bothersome, but only talking with me is a bad decision.

I work constantly, get frustrated, deal with dialysis side effects, shaking, diet and fluid restrictions, and throwing up.
