Oxnard—I spent most of the weekend trying to decide what to write about this week. Just pondering in my mind while I was typing your story, I thought I’d put it into the paper.
The title of the editorial, Thoughts, while typing”, is his tribute to my late friend and mentor Hawk Fracasa. He titled his editorials Thoughts While Shaving.
During the midnight to 6 AM hours, I tend to make a lot of decisions. Number one is, how do I motivate myself to stay ahead of the game? I do this simply, I set a goal like I’m going to do 100 words or 200 words, and then I promise myself a break, give me five or 10 minutes, and then I get back to work.
Certain variables play into any night that I’m working. The first one is how are my hands doing? Many times, not on the day of dialysis or the morning after dialysis, my hands get sore and numb. This means I’m typing with one finger most of the time. That will train down, that’s for sure.
