Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard—It’s Monday morning, March 9, and I’m ready to start my second two-part Frosted Thoughts.

HOPEFULLY, I get it done this morning, as this afternoon,

I am getting my stress test done on my heart, the last step before I am fully cleared to receive a transplant, from my Wife Jasnis, who has a bunch of blood tests to complete.

When my story left off, I was on the phone with the leader of Chabad Oxnard, Rabbi Dov Muchnik, who said his weekly prayer group would pray for me.

I’m not sure what pull Rabbi has, but the day I spoke with him, I was still in my wheelchair. Two weeks later, I was up using a walker, which was slow and painful, but within a couple of months, I moved to a cane, and a couple of months after that, I was on my own.

That move started one afternoon, when I stopped at the grocery store, before I delivered the paper, and left my cane in the parking lot. I was on my own for the first time.

I parked as closely as I could, and I walked slowly, grabbing cars every chance I could to keep…
