Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard-- So, I’m embarking on my 65th lap around the sun this week, and I need to accept the fact that specific life accommodations must be made to thrive.

AS my children tell me, I’m getting old, and ignoring this is a bad idea. Okay, making those accommodations started with my sense of hearing early Sunday, December 11. I woke up to cover the Santa to the Sea Marathon at Channel Islands Harbor to the sound of rain hitting my sunroof.

Since I don’t have a coat that fits me, I decided to layer up to stay warm. I put on two long sleeve t-shirts, two flannel shirts, a hoodie, and a windbreaker, and I was still freezing. Note to self, buy a heavy coat that fits!

I was preparing a travel mug of coffee for the event, and it struck me that taking my expensive camera into a rainstorm was not a good idea. I dug out my backup camera, which still takes nice pictures, and brought it along.

When I returned home and started planning the rest of my day, I read there was a ton of snow falling in California, which is a great thing. According…
