Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard—Well, it took a while, but my continuous blood meter is in process and will be here soon. I’m not trying to be gushy about this, but this process started on Thanksgiving morning when I had a low blood sugar episode, crashed through my writing table, and lay unconscious for hours while the J-Train was upstairs, sleeping and reading a book.

OF course, that wasn’t the only issue, as I had a problem about six weeks later after I had pneumonia, and my blood sugar tanked to 15 (100 is normal, 0 is dead), and the woman I bought the paper from had to help me back from that episode as did my graphic designer.

The new monitor has a built-in alarm telling me to take corrective action before I get in trouble which is a huge win for me. I can also stop testing my blood, which may not sound like much, but I can tell you that it’s not a pleasant experience. I test a lot on writing days to avoid low blood sugar issues because one bad side effect is confusion, and writing is next to impossible. Generally speaking, I will fall asleep.
