Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard-- I hope all the Dads out there have a great Father’s Day and all the children take the time to appreciate everything that Dads go through daily to ensure their kids are happy, safe, and loved.

I’VE written in detail about my Father already, Ward Ryder Frost Jr., so I won’t relive all those memories. Still, they live inside of me every day. It took me some time to embrace those memories because good Old Pop, affectionally known as “Woody,” was a blunt hard-nosed businessman totally different from me.

With all that said, pieces of his legacy come through me, starting with my ability to be direct and get to the point.

When I debate a topic, I can be ruthless, much like Woody, which he used to say was going over the hill, and I’m sure the J-Train wishes that I didn’t emulate that attribute. I know Woody had a contentious relationship with his Father, Ward Ryder Frost Sr., but as they grew older, they mended fences and had an amicable business-like relationship.

In the end, he was alone because my Mother died of lung cancer, and I would go to the house, and we became friends.…
