Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard-- Things run through my head during the week; what do I want to write about? Then, I look at the calendar and notice that we’re rolling into Thanksgiving and the Christmas season, and I think I’ve got to get organized.

OKAY, I start with what I am thankful for - my sons, Travis, the Para­medic, and the Sarge, Colin.

They’re good boys who somehow have become outstanding young men. Well, younger than me; they’re 40 and 38 years old, and although they tell me I was a good dad who was just a little off the beaten path, it’s that aspect of my parenting skills that made the difference.

They don’t live near me, which makes me unhappy, but they’re living out their dreams, a tradeoff I’ll take every day.

I won’t bore you with the same; I’m not a great big Christmas fan, so I will skip to 2024 and start working on my New Year’s resolutions.

Firstly, I need to be more patient with people. I should not laugh when a group of drivers who exceed the speed limit and tailgate each other stops short for something, causes an accident, then start yelling at each other.…
