Oxnard--My current adventure has been an odyssey, to say the least, that has an underlying tone that simply says I’m slightly off-center from most of the universe.
SO let me explain. There’s an article nobody wanted to write because it is full of detail and highly contentious. It meant a ton of digging and snooping and taking a lot of time to write.
The competition made it worse because they ran the story first, which got everyone up in arms since they always want to be first.
I got involved when it became obvious that everyone was ignoring the story and hoping it would go away, so like the slightly off-center journalist I am, informing the public is more important than the effort to get the job done.
I covered the meeting on video and started to notice something: the numbers they were debating were way different from the published story. My spidey sense told me to dig deeper, and when I did, I found out the quick story was full of figures in the preview packet which changed during a debate. Additionally, the debate was full of hostility, with the elected board members telling staff that interrupted facts…
