Oxnard—I’ve been here a while now, and I have to assimilate myself to Southern California again. To explain, I was drawing up my weekend and couldn’t help but notice the forecast, which called for rain, followed by announcements about sandbags.
NOW, until recently, that would mean batten down the hatches and get ready to ride the storm out. I redrew my day and attended the Chumash Elder Julie Tumamait-Stenslie talk at the main branch of the Oxnard Library.
Had I known the forecast actually meant a slight rainfall, I would have attended the Ceasar Chavez March that took place. Ceasar Chavez was a great man who stood for peace, and I won’t pay as much attention to the weather report anymore, that’s for sure.
