Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard--I’ve been home for about a month now, and I’m starting to notice a few things now that I have the time to look around and make a few observations.

FOR starters, I am getting a record number of phone calls from spam numbers trying to sell me things. Most times, I let them go and block them, but there are a few that I’ve answered and asked for the company’s name that gave them my phone number. FYI, most telemarketers hang up, but some tell me they’re suddenly having trouble hearing me and promise to call back later.

I’ve also noticed that on Monday mornings, while I’m delivering the paper to Oxnard and Port Hueneme, I’m amazed by the number of people who zoom past me like they’re in such a big hurry to get to work. Ironically, I usually catch them at the next red light. I guess they like spending money on gas because they accelerate constantly rather than at a steady driving pace. Perhaps they’re so excited about starting their new work week that they get excited and drive fast.
