Oxnard—Nothing is worse than fixing past mistakes and paying for such a privilege, and I did that in spades this week.
YOU probably don’t remember, but 5.5 years ago, we went all in on electric vehicles in the house, and at the time, I noted the cost savings at the gas pump.
The car had a decent range, and I could travel from Oxnard to Thousand Oaks and back on a single charge. Two cars added about $10 per month to my electric bill.
About a year later, I noticed that my range started dropping slightly, and after a while, the range started to decline even more, which limited where I could travel.
To make matters worse, my electric bill started going up significantly and the savings at the pump dwindled. When we had to travel a long distance, I had to stop at one of those car charging stations. The last time I had to charge my car, I used the station for about 30 minutes, added about 25 miles onto my range, and in the end, I spent $20.
