Oxnard—Ghosts and Goblins of all ages came out in force at Plaza Park, Saturday, October 24, as the Haunt in the Park meant spooky dances, scary costumes, lots of community booths, and, of course, CANDY!!!
The event was sponsored by the Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association, which came out in full force that night, motivated by their love for the City.
Gary Blum is the Marketing Chair for the Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association, and the Marketing Chair for the Oxnard Downtowners Foundation and he’s been doing it for over 30 years.
He only had two pieces of candy.
“I bought over 1,000 pieces of candy, but I only ate two,” he said. “The community is why I do this. You can come downtown, enjoy Plaza Park, and all the great things we do year-round, the Farmers’ Market, the Parade, and the Tree lighting bring smiles to all these kids’ faces.”
Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association Chair Angele Behrens-Whitecomb came dressed as a Spider witch and said her husband Matt was helping her Dad.
“I think they went to go get a tool,” she said. “I’ve been doing this for the past five years. My Daughter and her Boyfriend are going to the Vampire Ball tonight.”
Like Blum, she limited…
