Oxnard —The City of Oxnard’s Memorial Day Service continues with VA Chaplain Father Frederick Byaruhanga of the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System thanking all Veterans for facing all the dangers of War with courage and their willingness to serve.
"BECAUSE of them, the Flag of Freedom flies,” he said. “We ask your blessing for the families who carry the weight of loss, the lives of Children and Parents whose lives were forever changed who were called to service, and pride they are left behind.”
He also acknowledged today’s Veterans who came home with memories of the battles that words cannot hold.
“The Nation will never forget their service, and they fought with honor,” he said. “Lord, bless this Nation, and may it remain worthy of the sacrifices made on their behalf. May we cherish the Freedoms entrusted to us with integrity, courage, and strive always to work for justice and peace.”

He asked the Fallen’s memory to strengthen us, their memory guide the Nation, and never to forget how freedom is not inherited, but earned and protected, and preserved to the people to commemorate them on Memorial Day.
