ADUs factor heavily in Housing Element report

Oxnard-- The story about the General Plan and Housing Element Report continues with Councilman Bert Perello asking Senior Planner Joe Pearson to review the report’s highlights for the council members.

THESE reports are put together each year as a way to inform the public of the city’s process and meeting its RHNA (Regional Housing Needs Assessment) allocation and implementation of the general plan,” Pearson said. “It’s important, as the general plan is the guiding document for the city.”

He said they look at housing in the report and the number of units that have been permitted or issued for occupancy.

“In the report, we do identify that they’re looking at the primary numbers here,” he said. “We have granted entitlements for approximately 919 units throughout the city. We have issued building permits for 630 units in the city and certificates of occupancy for 337.”

He noted that a lot of en­ti­tlements have occurred over the last year and there is a con­tinuous wave of develop­ment coming in the coming years.
