Oxnard—The America 250 Celebration reached Plaza Park on Friday, July 3, and the Star-Spangled celebration brought performers, lots of people, plenty of American Flags, food, vendors, and groups all celebrating the United States of America and Freedom.
ATTENDEES came ready to celebrate in America 250 t-shirts, and all were ready to celebrate freedom, and the next 250 years.
Mayor Pro Tem Gabe Teran said America means having opportunities created by the Nation, which meant his Grandparents and Parents were able to get what they needed to make their dreams come true.
“Each was able to accomplish a little bit more,” he said. “I hope my kids are able to do a little more than I can do now.”
He hopes that everyone continues to have opportunities.
“This is a land of immigrants, and those who came here now and who will come here in the future are trying to take advantage of the advantages they were afforded,” he said. “If I start dancing, everyone will go home.”
He prefers watching the Fireworks events around the City and setting off Firecrackers.
Gabe planned to attend Plaza Park on the Fourth to watch the three generations of speakers who recently graduated three weeks ago.
