Ventura—The weather is warming, and the fun and hot rodders continue at Antique Adventures, which means donuts, hot coffee, plenty of camaraderie, and classic cars, which are always the highlight.
MIKE Strawhun brought his 1969 Pontiac GTO, featuring a 2010 6.2 liter engine.
“It’s been on the road for a couple of years,” he said. “I took it to Idaho and built it to drive.”
He said the GTO can move swiftly down the highway.
“It’s factory stock, with about 415 horses and the same torque,” he said. “I’ve done a few things to bring it up to 425-450. It scoots. My wife Kathy and I were traveling across the country; she asked if I had only one car, what would it be? It took me a year to answer that question. I went through all the cars; I settled into a Pontiac GTO, the first true muscle car, with a big motor and a small light car.”
He sold his blown motor and put in the 6.2-liter engine.
