Oxnard-- The community engagement process for the proposed South Oxnard Aquatic Center kicked off at College Park, Saturday, December 11, as residents came out and gave feedback on what they’d like to see.

TTENDEES traveled from station to station and learned about proposed amenities from the Rec Department staff and also got the chance to visit and get a picture with Santa Claus himself.

Assistant City Manager Ashley Golden said the event gives the public an opportunity to learn about what an Aquatic Center is and give the city feedback on what amenities they’d like to see.

“There are the basics of an Olympic-sized pool and training pool for the swimming lessons, but all the other amenities the community wants, that’s the part where we need their feedback,” she said. “Do you want splash pads, pools, lazy rivers? What are the other things that we can do in addition to the Olympicsized pool and training pool.”

 
 

She said the city has an RFP (Request for Proposals) out for design services for the center.
