Aut2Run inspires acceptance

Camarillo—The Annual Aut2Run race, Sunday, April 28, culminated a big month of Autism Acceptance and awareness across Ventura County.

THE Run featured a 15K,10K,5K, one mile, and FunK across the California State University Channel Islands campus, as “100 percent of the proceeds from Aut2Run go directly towards fulfilling Autism Society Ventura County’s (ASVC) mission of improving the lives of all affected by Autism.”

The Oxnard Police Department continued its ongoing support of Autism and had its Pop-Up Tent sale full of merchandise for those who support Autism Awareness and Acceptance.

Oxnard Police DepartBy ment Community Affairs Manager Paul Carganilla said the Autism Society logo inspired the Department’s new Autism Patch.

“It has the design of our regular patches with the Channel Islands but with the Autism Society Logo colors,” he said. “We’ve always tried to incorporate a heart on the Patch because it shows the support we have for the Autism community.”

He said it’s the sixth consecutive year the Oxnard Police Department has been involved.

“We didn’t have any Pop-Up sales during Covid, but we were able to do an online fundraiser,” he said.

Carganilla said it’s never too late to support the Oxnard Police Department’s Autism effort.
