Oxnard—During the Tuesday, July 21 City Council meeting, Mayor Pro Tem Gabe Teran invited 17-year-old Ashley Baldis to the dais to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and receive a proclamation.
BALDIS recited the Pledge of Allegiance and said, “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the Republic, for which it stands, one Nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.”
Baldis greeted the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and Council Members, then introduced herself and said she was getting ready for her Senior Year at Oxnard High School.
“I’m a member of the Cultural Arts Team, and I am involved in water polo, cheer, and swim at my High School,” she said. “I am also the Founder and President of Mock Trial and Garden Club Secretary.”
She is also part of the OHS Law Academy run by Mr. Jaime Moreno, Baldis said. “Everything I do is what brought me here today.”
Baldis said working for Cultural Arts has been a wonderful adventure, having started as an intern during last summer’s Summer at City Hall Program.
